Jonesboro Police Chase Ends With 1 Dead and 3 Injured

A Jonesboro police chase on October 3 ended with one person killed and three injured. The incident began when police received a call about a robbery at a local Dollar General located in the 5400 block of Southwest Drive.

After robbing the store, the suspects fled in their vehicle. Witnesses told the police that the driver took off on Southwest Driver going North.

The police left the Dollar General and headed down the road to catch up to the suspects. The reports did not indicate whether the suspects were armed or not.

It didn’t take long for the police to catch up . However, the driver refused to stop and led the police on a high-speed chase. At one point, the officers decided to execute a PIT maneuver to trap the vehicle. They did so with the help of the Arkansas State Police.

Sadly, the high-speed chase ended with the suspects crashing. Rescue crews were called to the scene. Three of the passengers were taken to the local hospital. The driver was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, there were no other individuals hurt in the crash. None of the officers sustained any injuries. The police were able to identify the suspect based on surveillance at the Dollar General and the witnesses at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing. If the investigation reveals that the police were in any way acting irresponsibly, the family of the victims may have a potential claim for damages. However, in situations like this, the police have a certain level of immunity.
