An 82-year-old woman lost her life in a solo car crash in Benton County on Tuesday night, January 12th. According to Arkansas State Troopers, the vehicle Delores King traveled in went off the road before going airborne.
The preliminary crash report placed the Garfield resident eastbound on U.S. 62 at about 9:40 p.m. King’s 2014 Hyundai exited the road to the right, striking a culvert. The impact caused the vehicle to go airborne.
The car rolled over severally and hit two more culverts before resting in a ditch. Responding medics took the victim to Mercy Hospital in Rogers. She died while undergoing treatment.
Troopers said weather conditions at the time of the solo car crash in Benton County were clear and dry. The investigation into the cause of the accident remains active. A summary report from the Department of Public Safety stated that at least 20 people have died on Arkansas roads this year.
There are several causes of car collisions in Arkansas. The common ones are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and reckless driving. Others are going over the legal speed limit, running red lights, tailgating, improper lane change, and road rage.
At other times, a medical condition like an epileptic or heart attack might lead to a crash. Solo crashes do not have legal consequences unless it endangers another person’s life. But the driver will need to prove that they were not negligent to their insurance company.
To do this, gather evidence at the crash scene. It would help if you take pictures of the site, look for witnesses to support your claim, and write down their contact information. Make a report to the police, and get a copy afterward. After going through the processes, contact an Arkansas car accident lawyer.
